Four Killed as BEST Electric Bus Loses Control in Bhandup, Mumbai


 

Mumbai witnessed a tragic road accident late Monday night when a BEST electric bus lost control in the Bhandup (West) area, leading to multiple casualties. The incident occurred around 10 PM near Station Road and created panic among locals.

According to initial reports, the electric bus was reversing when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle. During this maneuver, the bus rammed into pedestrians standing on the roadside. Around five to six people were hit in the accident, resulting in a chaotic situation at the spot.

Four people lost their lives in the incident, while several others sustained serious injuries. The injured were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is reported to be critical in some cases.

Soon after the accident, emergency services including the Mumbai Police, fire brigade, and medical teams reached the scene. Rescue operations were carried out promptly to assist the injured and clear the area.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. CCTV footage from the vicinity and eyewitness statements are being examined to determine whether negligence, technical failure, or other factors led to the tragedy.

The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety and the operation of heavy vehicles in crowded urban area
