Vidarbha Tourism Booms Ahead of New Year 2026, Hotels Near Full Capacity

Tourism across Nagpur and the Vidarbha region has witnessed a sharp surge ahead of New Year 2026, with accommodation facilities reporting high occupancy levels as holiday travel peaks during the year-end season.

MTDC Resorts Report 100% Occupancy

According to reports, resorts operated by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) across key tourist destinations in Vidarbha have reached 100% occupancy. The strong demand highlights growing interest in nature- and wildlife-based tourism within the region.

Private Hotels See Over 80% Bookings

Private hotels and resorts in and around Nagpur and nearby tourist hubs are also benefiting from the seasonal rush. Many establishments have reported over 80% occupancy, driven by school vacations, long weekends, and New Year travel plans.

Special New Year Celebrations Planned by MTDC

To enhance visitor experience, MTDC has planned special New Year celebrations at its resorts. The festivities include decorative lighting, regional cuisine, DJ nights, live orchestra performances, magic shows, and interactive games, making these destinations more appealing for families and groups.

Wildlife and Nature Destinations in High Demand

Popular tourist spots such as Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, Pench National Park (Sillari range), Navegaon-Nagzira, Navegaon Bandh, Bodalkasa, and Chandrapur have received heavy inquiries and confirmed bookings. Wildlife safaris and scenic retreats remain top choices for visitors.

Dormitory Accommodations Also Fully Booked

Interestingly, even dormitory-style accommodations at MTDC facilities have been completely booked, reflecting strong demand across all budget segments.

Strong Demand Continues Despite Full Bookings

Officials said that inquiries are still pouring in despite most facilities being fully booked, indicating sustained interest in Vidarbha as a preferred New Year travel destination.

Post-Diwali Revival Boosts Local Tourism Economy

Tourism officials attribute the surge to a revival in travel activity post-Diwali, year-end festivities, and pleasant winter weather. The increased tourist flow has provided a boost to local businesses and the regional tourism economy, reinforcing Vidarbha’s growing appeal as a holiday destination.

Overall, the strong occupancy levels ahead of New Year 2026 underline Vidarbha’s rising status on Maharashtra’s tourism map.
