On the
morning of 24th February the Russian President Vladimir Putin declares
war on the neighbouring country Ukraine. Tension was going on between the two
countries from the several weeks. The central figure in all this developments
is the Russian President Vladimir Putin. In this article we are going to see
the rise of Vladimir Putin and the Russia.
We all knows
that India has a very good relation with the Russia from the time of Jawaharlal
Nehru. When India got independence the Russia was under the rule of Joseph
Stalin who laid focus on the development of Industries. Government had a total
control over the means of production.
Stalin
created a roadmap for this development. This roadmap was generally for five
years and hence it is also called as “Five year plan”. Nehru also experimented
with such plan and created “Planning Commission” to look after the development
process.
Vladimir Lenin
Joseph
Stalin became the supremo of USSR after the death of Vladimir Lenin. Vladimir
Lenin is credited for establishing the Communist rule in Russia. Communism was
established in Russia after the Russian Revolution which took place under the
leadership of Vladimir Lenin in 1917. Hence Russian Revolution is also known
Communist Revolution.
Once Lenin
was restricted from the school due his revolutionary nature. But on the request
of his mother he got admitted again and he completed his law degree from there.
Lenin came
in contact with the Karl Marx’s “Capital” during his college days. In “Capital”
Karl Marx criticized the capitalism and the explained how it is exploiting the
poor masses. Karl Marx was “Jewish” by religion and he was from Germany. He had
to left Germany as there was hatred about the Jewish people. Garman people were
trying to claim that there race is superior than others.
Marx finally
settled in England. The first part of “Das Capital” was published in England in
1867. In “Capital” Karl Marx said that the society in always divided into two
parts. One consists of rich , landlords, ruling class etc and another consists
of working class people. The working class people are getting poorer and poorer
and others like landlords ,industrialist are getting richer.
This type of
ideology largely attracted the youths in Europe. Marx’s ideology gave birth to
many revolutions in world.
Rise the the rise of Vladimir Putin
With the end
of 20th century a new kind historic development took place in Russia
and that is nothing but the rise of Vladimir Putin to the top position in the
Russian Government. The journey of Vladimir Putin to reach such height is quite
interesting.
Vladimir Putin
is sitting on the throne from 2000 to till now. During 2008 to 2012 he was
Prime Minister of Russia.
Vladimir is
known for his tough nature. During his time he had successfully undertook
many military expeditions against neighbouring
countries.
Vladimir
Putin’ fitness, his skills in Russian Martial arts like “Sambo” made him popular
among the Russian people.
Putin has
been criticized as a fascist leader by the media organizations in England and
USA. It a common belief that Vladimir used any sort of measure to shut down his
opponents. He didn’t want anyone to came in his way and he can do anything to
remove the obstacles.
But Vladimir
had done tremendous work to make the Russian economy more robust. His 20 years
as a leader of Russian Government saw many important changes in the Russian
Economy.
Putin and his foreign policy
The main
policy of Putin foreign relations in the opposition to the USA and its every
move. In last 20 years Putin has oppose every American actions.
Some political
thinkers said that due to him harsh and tough decisions oPutin had reminded the
Russian people about their great past.
From KGB agent to Russian President
It is said that due to his expertise in martial
arts games like Judo and Sambo Putin has acquired skill like aggression. Now
lets see the story of a son of worker who climbed all the ladders to reach to
topmost position in one of the strongest country in the world.
Vladimir’s
father was a worker in a factory. Putin was fond of spy stories from his
childhood. One day he went to the office of KGB and said that he want to become
a spy and ask them what should he do to become one. Officers in KBG suggested
him to either join the army or complete his college education.
Putin
completed his degree in law and then started working in the security agency
where he came in the eyes of KGB officers .
He became
KGB officer and was a spy in Germany for five years between 1985 to 1990. Then
the wall of Berlin fell and East and West
Germany become unified. After this event Vladimir who had then became lieutenant
colonel went back to the Moscow.
After the
fall of Soviet Union in December 1991 there was widespread poverty and
corruption in Russia. During this time Putin left the KGB and joined the political
bureaucracy. This was the second phase in his political carrier. Boris Yeltsin
was the president of Russia in 1990s. He joined his office as deputy chief.
During this he came in contact with Oligarch. Oligarch is nothing but the group
of richest persons in Russia who had a
accumulated a tremendous amount of wealth.
With the
support from oligarch he became Prime Minister of Russia in August 1999 and
then became president. He started challenging America on every front after
that.
In 1991
Ukraine became separate from the Soviet Union and became neighbour of Russia.
Ukrainian population was divided into two groups one supporting Russia and
another considering themselves as European.
In 2013
there was a popular demand from the Ukrainian people to join European Union.
Then president of Ukraine viktor yanukovych rejected this demand. After that
Russia occupied the Ukrainian region of Crimea. Getting agitated by this move
America and European Union had applied many sanctions on Russia.
Russian
under the leadership of Vladimir Putin was active in the geopolitics of Asia.
It had sent his troops in Afghanistan and Syria also.
Today Russia
is again on a war with Ukraine. Weeks of negotiations did not yield any result.
It would be interesting what stand India will take. This is definitely a diplomatic
dilemma for Prime Minister Modi
